Eyeshadow Tips with Seint Makeup
Eyeshadow seems to be the most intimidating task when it comes to makeup. Each eye is so unique. The structure, the shape, the color. The way the lashes grow. The brows that frame them. We should embrace every perfect part of the work of art that is our face. Stop fighting your beauty. Use these natural eyeshadow tips to enhance your eyes.
1. Prime your eyelids
Prepare your eyelids by priming them. While you can purchase an eyeshadow primer, you don’t have to get crazy with any extra product. I just use my highlight from my 3D foundation. Use your foundation or concealer to cover the lid and then set that with a translucent powder or bone colored eye shadow. Priming your eyelids will help your eyeshadow show more true to the color in the palette and help prevent the shadows from creasing.
2. Use Eyeshadow Brushes
If you are still using the little sponges that come in your eyeshadow palettes, then just switching from those to an actual brush will make you seem like an eyeshadow pro. Those sponges don’t blend and they harbor bacteria. Say goodbye now. You want your shadows to blend beautifully with each other and your skin. Having at least two brushes will help with this. One fluffy ended for blending and one for more precise placement. For the perfect everyday look, I love my double ended EyeShadow brush from SEINT.
3. Light to Dark
Always move from light to dark colors, building on top of each other. This will give a more soft, natural appearance and mimic the natural structure of the eye, even if you are going for something more dramatic and smokey.
4. Neutral Base
One of the most important Natural eyeshadow tips is to have a perfect neutral base color. Create a soft blended look by starting with a color that is one shade darker than your natural skin tone. Keep within the same tone of your skin by choosing something warm, or cool. Seint has so many amazing eyeshadow colors. Take my color match quiz for help customizing a palette for you.
5. Use the crease to guide you
Starting with your neutral base shade, map out your bone structure. Starting at the outermost edge of your eye socket and bringing the shades in towards the center of your eyes following the crease of your eyelid.
*Hooded eyes- There is different degrees of hooded eyes. This just means that when your eyes are open, your lids will be covered. To make sure you can see your eyeshadow, create a faux crease. While keeping your eyes open and looking straight ahead, use your fluffy brush and apply the eyeshadow right above where your eye opens. This will give the illusion that your crease is higher and your lids are larger.
6. Small Circles and Windshield Wipers
When holding your makeup brush, hold it as close to the end as you can, as lightly as you can, and apply very light pressure to the eye lid. Start with small circles in the outer most corner of your eyesocket. Once you have the color to your desired depth, start to gently wipe back and forth like a windshield wiper. Start with your neutral base and building up the outer corner and crease depth.
7. Wet Brush for Richer Pigment
When applying an eye shadow shade to your eyelid, try tapping into your shadow and then spraying the brush with setting spray. This will prevent fall out and give you a richer pigment. I use the STAY from SEINT.
*Hooded Eyes Tip- When applying a shade onto your eyelid, keep your eyes open and look straight ahead. Apply the shade slightly higher than the lid on the inner corner of the eye.
8. Don’t forget the bottoms
Take the shades you used to blend in the crease and apply them on the bottom lash line as well. This will make your eyes look more awake and balanced. Again, start with light and move to dark. There is a full video on how this is done below.
9. Afraid of bold colors?
Neutrals are my favorite too, but break out of your comfort zone to try something fun. Start exploring with fun colors by placing them on the center of your eye lid, near your lash line.
10. Still Overwhelmed? Try this
Practice makes perfect. Keep exploring your eye and seeing what looks best. If you still are not sure, grab a neural cream shadow, like Tangled. and apply it all over. They are easy to blend and look beautiful on everyone. It will give you a little dimension and make your eyes the feature of the face.
